Solid Food Injector
Solid Food Injector - A solid food injector is a great way to inject big flavor into meat while keeping it tender and juicy.
A solid food injector is simply a syringe designed to inject marinate into the inside of food. It is especially useful on poultry due to the fact that the skin will hamper the flavor of the marinate from absorbing into the meat.
Here are a few basic guidelines to follow:
1. Meat preparation – Be sure the meat is cleaned, trimmed and seasoned the way you want it before using the solid food injector.
2. Marinate preparation – A solid food injector is capable of injecting just about any marinate you chose so, pick your favorite and go for it.
3. Solid food injector preparation – Be sure the solid food injector is clean. Wash all components with warm, soapy water. Pour the marinate mixture into the chamber. (It is a good idea to use cold marinate. Warm marinate will encourage bacteria growth)
4. Oil the needle – Stick the needle into the meat and push the plunger to dispense the marinate. Pull the needle back a little and point the needle in a new direction and push the plunger again. Repeat this a few more times from the same injection point. This will give you maximum marinate injection without puncturing the meat in multiple places. Repeat this process in even spacing around the meat.
5. It’s best to place the meat into the refrigerator for several hours before cooking. This allows the marinate to absorb throughout the meat.
6. Cook the meat as you normally would. A solid food injector is especially great for grilling.
7. After the meat is done, remove it from the grill and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes. This will allow the juices to reenter the food and avoids having dry meat.
A solid food injector is a great way to add flavor to your meal.
